Executive of Administration and Finance
Colin J. Williams
Vice-President of Marketing and Sales
Solar makes the world go around. Seriously, without the sun, we wouldn’t be here. I am truly grateful to be able to do what I do. As head of sales and marketing my job is to help people understand how solar can work for them.
During a career that began in the Theatre in college, I have always used the creative talents to help shape the conversation on subjects from health care, to the role of the Arts in our society, to stewardship of the earth and its abundant natural resources. With a solid belief and determination that highly energy efficient homes were the way of the future, I acted on my own advice, and in 2002 built a passive solar log home near my hometown of Berkeley Springs, WV. Today that little log home runs on the sun!
In 2009 I joined forces with Mike & Pete McKechnie, to create Mountain View Solar. Building a solar company in West Virginia has meant many opportunities to advocate for renewable energy and speaking as often as possible on solar energy technology and practical ways we all can live a little greener.
When not out spreading the solar gospel, I can be found in my garden with my yellow lab Maximus.
Energy Systems Specialist / Marketing
My background consists of extensive experience designing, completing, and maintaining complex technical projects including software, hardware and electronics.
Professionally, I ran my own information technology business for 13+ years as a software developer and custom system builder. Eventually I found myself combining my love of electricity, information technology and business operations when I came to work at mtvSolar via an internship in 2014. I then proceeded to obtain my NABCEP Certified PV Installer certification.
My work at mtvSolar is as a system designer for solar and energy storage systems, marketing and media, and information technology.
I also have my own solar installation at my home in Hagerstown, MD which offsets 100% of my annual electricity usage.
I have had a business relationship and friendship with Mike McKechnie for around 20 years. Before becoming an employee at mtvSolar, I was a sub contractor for the company. Before that in the late 90’s through 2001, I worked as an employee for Mountain View Builders (our original company) while running my own business building furniture from reclaimed lumber, and as always doing residential electrical jobs.
I am the master electrician, but also feel that I have a knack for all aspects of construction, engineering, and design. I am passionate about utilizing my skills as an electrician to excel in a sustainable category of the energy industry.
I am passionate about raising my children to be aware and conscientious individuals that respect the environment, take pride in their heritage, respect others while seeking self fulfillment.
I love outdoor activities such as hunting, fishing, hiking and biking. I also enjoy whitewater kayaking, riding my motorcycle, and wood working when time allows.
The path that brought me to mtvSolar in 2011 was a previous work relationship with Jason Arnold (master Electrician) and Mike McKechnie (Owner). I was Jason’s only employee when he owned his electrical contracting company. We did the electrical work for Mike’s previous company Mountain View Builders.
I’m known for my attention to detail, my clean and professional electrical skills. I have a knack for knowing what the homeowner wants to see when installing on their homes.
Other than doing electric work since I graduated in 2005, I have also done carpentry with No Worries Construction. HVAC work with Air Row Sheet Metal and I also made fiberglass insulation for Guardian Fiberglass.
When not at work, I can be found with my wife, Tracie, and my two dogs, Sawyer and Huck. I love to hunt and fish. I spend most of my time outside enjoying nature.
I’m a transplant from Annapolis, MD, who fell in love with Berkeley Springs, WV.
With the help of Mike McKechnie and mtvSolar, I built a solar powered, straw-bale house, where I reside with my girlfriend, daughter, and son when he’s home from WVU.
I believe that solar sells itself. My job is to educate people about the benefits, and with great products, give people the power to create their own energy.

Customer Relations Manager
I joined the MTV family as inside sales support in 2014. I am now the Customer Relations Manager. Most of my time here is spent working with permitting offices, interconnection coordinators for various utility companies, working as a liaison between customers and the different departments within mtvSolar. I also design the site plans for permitting and interconnection applications, and create the drawings for prospective clients to get a rough idea of what solar would look like on their homes.
I had spent 7 years working nights in a warehouse. I saw so many cases of Styrofoam plates leave the warehouse and every night it became harder to justify working for a company that didn’t align with my environmental beliefs. Solar is a perfect fit. It sure didn’t hurt that my brother owns the company! I did come for an interview though.
In my spare time I like to hike, plant things in the garden, play with the pets and eat delicious food. I have also been known to binge watch Netflix occasionally. I enjoy a good book, and love to write ridiculous stories. I am learning how to white water Kayak, and this winter I plan on learning how to ski.
I can, with 100% honesty, say that I love the installation crew here. They are kind, polite and so very, VERY hard working. They do beautiful work every time! I smile everyday at work. I don’t know how many people can say that!
Inside Sales Support
I am a native of Towson Maryland outside of Baltimore. My husband and I moved here in 2000 after he was transferred with FED EX Freight. We now are currently raising our 3 children in beautiful Berkeley Springs, WV. I came aboard Mountain View Solar in October and work with the nicest people who are very passionate about Solar. I’m very much a people person so dealing with customers is something that I love to do. My responsibilities are to handle everything leading up to the installation of your solar which include interconnections with power company, to permitting in your proper jurisdiction. We make it all happen for you!!!
I became involved with mtvSolar when they installed a solar panel and a battery back-up system to my horse trailer, so I have a fan and lights available 24/7! My horses never sweat on the way to a horse show, I can make coffee before the sun comes up and I have lights after the sun goes down!! I have lived in the country and been involved with horses most of my life and I know that Solar Power just makes sense!
I started in IT in the Federal and Hospital/Healthcare space. I’m adept at managing customer relationships and positioning products into solution selling opportunities. Customers would say I have the ability to understand their pain points and work closely with them to develop a solution to solve that pain.
I am new to the renewable energy space, but I have over 15 years of experience as a professional problem solver. I like brainstorming and creating new solutions. There is nothing better than finding a problem, building a solution then testing to see if it works.
I am from the Washington D.C. area. Living in the city you miss much of the world. I love speaking to the youth in poverty-stricken neighborhoods of Northern VA, Southern MD and Washington D.C.
