Morgan County Friends of Solar
Group Purchase Program

In the spring of 2012 we created a Solar Group Purchase Program.  It was a great success. Many people installed solar on their property- over 100 panels in all! We repeated the program the following year with equal success. Recently we were asked if we could replicate the program. The answer is yes.  We can pass on the savings, by volume purchasing.

Shepherdstown, WV—In a first of its kind project, residents and businesses in this West Virginia small town have come together to do what was once out of reach—making solar power accessible for any church or non-profit in one of the most coal-dependent states in America.

Tuesday morning, Shepherdstown Presbyterian Church members, project organizers, and local leaders held a ribbon cutting for the completed project, the culmination of a year-long, community-wide effort. Not only is the installation the largest community-supported solar system in West Virginia, but it also launches a new financing model that makes solar possible for non-profits across the state. The solar panels will produce nearly half of the electricity the church uses in a typical year.

 Dear friends of solar,

Did you know that the state of WV was selected to compete in this year’s Decathlon, (only 20 states are even selected)--currently being held in California?  Why not take a minute and get the details.  See the link below.  Mountain View Solar along with Solar World were instrumental in working with the University in the PEAK house solar (pv) feature of the project.  We have three ...

At the new home’s dedication ceremony on Sunday, MtvSolar President Michael McKechnie ...

It’s the end of summer for mtvSolar intern Jacob Montague.  One of his favorite experiences was teaching 30,000 fellow Scouts about the many benefits of solar renewable energy.

I’m Jacob Montague - civil engineering student at Virginia Tech, Eagle Scout, and summer intern at Mountain View Solar in Berkeley Springs, WV.  During my internship at mtvSolar I’ve had the opportunity to spend time with nearly every aspect of the solar industry, from marketing research, to 3D modeling of solar system layouts, to permitting and inspection processes, and even some actual solar installations.

My biggest project this summer, however, was representing mtvSolar at the 2013 Boy Scouts of America (BSA) National Jamboree, which took place in southern West Virginia. This year’s National Jamboree included something rather new and exciting: Technology Quest, one of the many ...

In the dead of winter when most of the outdoor construction industry throughout the mid-Atlantic region is at a stand-still, Mountain View Solar of Berkeley Springs headed south to construct a 100kW solar system which could potentially save thousands of lives.

The solar system’s benefactor is the headquarters of Charleston, SC-based
