Power Your Farm!
• Federal and state incentives
• Lower energy bills
• Accelerated depreciation
• Differentiation advantage
• Environmental stewardship
• Rural Energy for America Program (REAP) grants
REAP grants (click here to learn more) provide guaranteed loan financing and grant funding to agricultural producers and rural small businesses to purchase or install renewable energy systems or make energy efficiency improvements. mtvSolar will assist with the entire process!
Fencing Livestock Out of Streams: The USDA currently has a program to transition cattle away from streams and supplies grant money to offset the cost of an off-grid solar powered water pumping system.
Keeping cattle and other livestock out of streams is critical for clean water. The wading animals erode stream banks and excrete waste, increasing bacteria, nitrogen, phosphorus, and sediment pollution for those downstream. Clean, dry cattle are also healthier and less likely to suffer serious foot and leg injuries from slippery banks and rocky stream bottoms. Project funding will cover most of the installation costs.
Poultry Farming: The typical poultry farmer raises chickens from a young age and to do so, requires a significant amount of heating and energy. A 2011 USDA report states that about 3% of total expenses come from energy use.
Energy costs for a poultry farmer can greatly impact an agricultural producer’s livelihood and returns on their investment, and reducing or eliminating energy costs adds directly to the bottom line.
Off-Grid Farming: mtvSolar has the capability to run an entire agricultural operation off the grid, or with a power backup system for locations with unreliable utility connections.
